RARC Field Day 2008  (page 1 of 4)
Hams started showing up on Friday June 27th to scope out the 5A setup at Pat Cahill’s farm location in Kasson. This year the operation was expanded to include two SSB, Two CW and a Digital station. Everything worked fine as long as each station was on a different band. However if the band was shared QRM was experienced from the competing station. Added to this were poor propagation conditions and on and off rain for the Saturday kick off at 1:00 p.m.  All in all there was good participation for all stations for the 24 hour period with a surprisingly good opening for PSK31 on 20 meters during the evening hours. Panera Bread and Famous Dave’s came through with some great bread and barbeque for several of the meals. The pictures show several of the operators. Bob AB0BW significantly expanded his PSK31 contacts this year over last. Due to other propagation issues overall we will likely end up with a close to equal  number of contacts compared to last year.  As always Field Day was a great opportunity for our club members to show how quickly we can get stations on the air and work together as a team.

In addition to the radio fun, we also ate well!  Thanks to the following businesses:
Subway Subway (22nd Ave NW & 37th St) donated a 6 foot party sub for Saturday lunch. Our gratitude to Mike (Mgr)!
Famous Dave's Famous Dave's (NW)  provided Pork Sandwiches and Coleslaw for 40 members for our potluck on Saturday! What a gracious donation - thanks Amber!
Panera Bread Panera Bread (Marketplace NW) provided a host of breakfast goodies for Sunday morning. Our profound thanks to Cory (Mgr)!
Our gratitude to those three restaurants and when you eat there please make it a point to thank a manager for supporting our June 28 Amateur Radio Field Day!
