web site.
To take an exam, you must bring the following:
- Two forms of identification ...one of which must be
a photo identification or a certified birth certificate.
- Original and one photocopy of current license, if
any.
- Original and one photocopy of CSCEs (Certificate of
Successful Completion of Exam) toward the next class license, if any.
- You will need either your Social Security Number (SSN) or
an FCC Registration Number (FRN).
For the security of your Social Security Number
(SSN), we prefer that you obtain an FCC Registration Number (FRN) and
bring it with you to the test session. The FRN number will be used to
uniquely identify you in all transactions with the FCC. Use of the FRN
will prevent exposing your SSN to others including VEs and the
ARRL/VEC.
To obtain a free FCC Registration Number (FRN), visit
the FCC web site at FCC
Registration Number (FRN) Commission Registration System (CORES).
- The 2012 exam fee is $15.00. You may either pay in cash
(exact amount please), or by check made out to "ARRL/VEC".
- Supplies, pen, pencils, eraser, calculator, etc. The
calculator should be a "basic" one without programmable memories.
The examination fee allows an examinee to take one test of each
element. Element "retakes" are allowed for an additional fee of $15.00.
For any questions on the VE testing sessions, please contact Bob Dubke, KØSIR or Pat Cahill, WØBM.
