RARC October 2006 Meeting Rewind

The October monthly club meeting was held on Tuesday, October 10, 2006, at the American Red Cross building in southeast Rochester. Program: Digital Update - Bill (KØRGR) Bill (KØRGR) gave RARC an Echolink update; sharing information about what Echolink offers, and what [VOIP] facilities RARC has available to it via the KØRGR-R Echolink node. As always, Echolink connects the RARC 146.625 repeater to many other Echolink nodes around the globe, but new exciting features were discussed like a worldwide Google map that shows existing nodes. Bill continued to discuss digital technologies found in both Winlink and D-Star. Sharing their benefits for communication (especially for emergency communications), Bill answered many questions voiced about the components of the systems and how they function. Questions about backbones, and connectivity to the Internet were asked, and Bill answered them with ease and expertise. Thanks Bill for a great presentation!
