RARC November 2007 Meeting Rewind

The November monthly club meeting was held on Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at the Schaeffer Academy school in Rochester.

Program: Ham on a Lower Budget and D-STAR - Dan and Maline from Radio City

The business portion of the club meeting was kept at a minimal length to ensure time for the special program of the night.

The program started with the break after the main business meeting. Jerry Nau had thanked RARC for our contribution to College for Kids, and further discussed the College for Kids program during the business meeeting. Jerry also shared class programs, brochures and pictures taken during the last class sessions. During the break, Jerry served cake, coffee, apple juice, and pop to show how appreciated our contribution was.

Also during the break, club members browsed the display offered by Radio City on ham for those on a lower budget. Dan and Maline from Radio City setup a nice display of items for sale that beginner hams may be interested in purchasing. Club members also enjoyed touring the Schaeffer Academy school club station.

The program then began with Scott KØMD presenting the 2007 Field Day results. We were the top 3A entry in the Dakota division. Scott said that the Field Day committee would be working soon to come up with a plan for the 2008 Field Day activities.

Dan from Radio City then gave an interesting presentation on D-STAR. The program ended with a dedication of a new ICOM 718 HF radio for the Schaeffer Academy school club.
