Niel (WØVLZ) shows his 1920 style receiver.

Niel gave an informative and fun talk about his collection of Vintage Homebrew Radios. Nostalgia, humor, history and appreciation for craftmanship and limitations of years past made the discussion fascinating for new and old Hams alike. Highlights of the presentation inlcude (but are not limited to):
A 1930 style transmitter in which Niel explained used standard commercially available tubes. This meant that sometimes the family radio would have its tubes "borrowed" for an evening of operating.
The "Hero of Hallettsville" (a 1940 Portable Transmitter) that was actually used during a 1940 south Texas flood emergency.
A late 1950s Mobile AM transmitter that is fun to think about being in a 1957 Chevy, and is impressively compact for its age.
The 1951 Novice station - which brought up memories of collecting spare parts from old TVs and from junk yards.
